Natalia Zabiiako shared footage from her upcoming China Open vlog with partner Daria Kasatkina that put tennis on ice—with a little help from 2022 Olympic champion Sui Wenjing.

“Starting to remember pair skating with the incredible @wenjingsui,” Zabiiako captioned on Instagram over the weekend. “So nice to have a tiny partner 😂🥰⛸️”

Herself a former Olympic figure skater, Zabiiako brought Kasatkina and fellow tennis player Arina Rodionova to meet Sui, who won gold in the pair event with longtime partner Han Cong, for an exclusive Beijing master class.

“I am zero figure skater,” Kasatkina joked back in 2022. “I mean, I like to skate, but she has to always carry me or else I will fall. I'm trying hard to learn how to do it, but I just cannot.”

“I'm enjoying this sport, honestly. It's nice. I enjoy a lot watching her skating. I start to watch more figure skating in general. It's very beautiful sport.”

Zabiiako was returning the favor for Kasatkina, who has seen her girlfriend embrace tennis with some coaching sessions earlier this year.

With partner Alexander Enbert, Zabiiako won a silver medal in Pyeonchang’s team figure skating event at the 2018 Winter Games and. In between documenting life on the WTA tour with Kasatkina for their What The Vlog? YouTube series, the 30-year-old regularly carves out ice time, finding rinks in Ohio and New York while Kasatkina competed at the Cincinnati Open and US Open.

“I think it’s funny how we actually don’t talk too much about tennis, only in funny ways,” Kasatkina said of their vlog back in March. “Normally we talk about off-court things, which helps you understand the person better. We talk about tennis everywhere. Outside the court, we’re just human beings talking about burgers, ice cream and all this stuff.”

After kicking off the Asian swing with a runner-up finish in Seoul, can Kasatkina end the 2024 season with a triple axel on the tennis court?
