The third match on the third day of PPA The Masters saw Genie Bouchard pulling off her second consecutive three-game comeback of the women’s singles bracket.

After losing the first game in 11 minutes to No. 2 seed and former collegiate tennis player Brooke Buckner, Bouchard was able to level out the game score at one a piece—and then rip through the deciding game in under ten minutes' time.

This follows her three-game, round-of-32 win over doubles partner Hannah Blatt, where in just under 45 minutes Bouchard was able to come back from 9-11 down and win 11-2, 11-8.

Bouchard sets up a quarterfinal match against former WTA player and No. 5 seed in the tournament, Kaitlyn Christian.

Bouchard and Blatt later took the court together to compete in doubles, losing to No. 2 seed Anna Bright and partner Rachel Rohrabacher 3-11, 5-11.

In men’s doubles, Donald Young and Travis Rettenmaier took on No. 1 seeds—and brothers—Ben and Collin Johns. Although the play clock read under 40 minutes, the valiant if losing effort from the former tennis pros shows in the final score, 11-6, 11-6.

Recall that Young and Rettenmaier knocked out Jack Sock and partner Collin Shick a round before. Although Young is out of the race in all three eligible brackets, Sock plays on in singles as his battled through a three-game round of 16 match against No. 5 seed Dylan Frazier.

In the quarterfinals, he will meet No. 2 seed Connor Garnett, who is Novak Djokovic’s former hitting partner.

Anna Leigh Waters had a successful day across the board, starting her day with a half an hour singles victory, defeating Collin Johns in mixed doubles (with partner Ben), and capping her day with an 11-0, 11-1 women’s doubles win in less than twenty minutes.

Waters is into the quarterfinals in all three events, which take place later today, Friday Jan. 10. Tune into PickleballTV to catch up on all the replays before the quarterfinals begin and watch as the quarterfinals go live at 1 p.m. ET.
