Coco Gauff got eliminated from singles at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, falling to world No. 84 Zarina Diyas, 6-4, 6-2, in an hour and 18 minutes. But the trip to the nation's capital wasn't for nothing.

The 15-year-old scored back-to-back straight-set wins in qualifying, and is still alive in the doubles draw, alongside American 17-year-old Caty McNally. Before facing Diyas in singles, Gauff defeated her and Zhu Lin on the doubles court, 6-3, 6-2.

Additionally, early in the singles match, Gauff hit the WTA's Shot of the Day, ending a seemingly interminable 29-stroke rally with a biting ball that would make Nick Kyrgios envious.

Even with the loss, it's been an incredible summer run for Gauff, who's won eight of her last 10 matches, and doesn't even turn 16 until next March.

In Washington doubles, she and McNally next play Xiaodi You and Yu-chieh Hsieh. Maybe Gauff will do something awesome there, too.
