It's a love match in Washington, D.C. for Fratangelo, Keys, Monfils and Svitolina

Two of tennis' top power couples have been maximizing their time together at the Mubadala Citi DC Open.

Bjorn Fratangelo and Madison Keys, and Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina, are partners off the court, but this week in the U.S. capital city, the four players have been front and center on court at each other's matches.

Monfils and Svitolina have already scored two straight-sets wins so far this week, and Keys will join Svitolina in the quarterfinals of the WTA event.

Playing his first tour-level tournament since last year's US Open, Fratangelo, who received a qualifying wild card, won two matches to reach the main draw before losing to Monfils.

Each player has been forced to budget their time efficiently in D.C., as each has been spotted watching their partner courtside, while fitting in work outs, warm ups, and their own matches. Keys and Svitolina were both in the stands during the first-round match between Fratangelo and Monfils, which the Frenchman won 6-3, 6-4.

The dynamic was at its most complex for Fratangelo and Keys in the early days of the tournament, as the 30-year-old Fratangelo has been coaching his fiancée this summer.

Their on-court collaboration led to a title for Keys in grass at Eastbourne and a quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon, and Keys was thrilled to have him back in that role as she faced Palermo champion and 2022 WTA Newcomer of the Year Zheng Qinwen on Tuesday.

"Obviously, I wanted him to win last night, but selfishly, I was very happy that he was back tonight," Keys said on Tuesday after her 7-5, 6-1 first-round win. "He's had a lot of injuries, so it was really great to see him qualify and get some wins here, and be able to watch, and now the roles are reversed."

After beating Fratangelo on Monday night under the lights, Monfils was met with a congratulatory kiss from Svitolina, who had beaten Victoria Azarenka hours earlier.

"It's a good night for both of us," he said, "and hopefully we can keep it going this week."
