On, the Swiss sportswear and shoe company backed by Roger Federer, has snagged another young talent with its recent signing of American teenager Julieta Pareja.

Earlier this year in Bogota, the 16-year-old became the youngest WTA semifinalist since Coco Gauff won the Upper Austria Ladies Linz by winning five matches at the WTA 250 event after getting a wild card for the qualifying draw. She is the first player born in 2009 to compete in a WTA main draw.

Carlsbad, Calif. native Pareja, of Colombian heritage, is also the first female American player to join On's roster of sponsored athletes. The brand also endorses Joao Foneseca, Ben Shelton and Iga Swiatek, as well as 16-year-old German Julia Stusek and reigning junior Australian Open champion Henry Bernet, who is also Swiss.

“I’m really happy to be an On athlete," Pareja said in a statement. "It’s a unique experience to be part of a select group of athletes that represent innovation, high performance, simplicity, all while keeping sustainability in mind. I couldn’t be more excited to start this journey.”

Currently ranked No. 319 in the pros and No. 14 in the world junior rankings, Pareja is coming off a quarterfinal effort in the girls' draw at Roland Garros in both singles and doubles. The week prior, she reached the singles final of a prestigious J500 event in Milan, Italy, beating both the eventual Roland Garros junior champion Lilli Tagger of Austria and runner-up Hannah Klugman of Great Britain along the way.

Feliciano Robayna, head of athlete management for tennis at On, said that the brand is "absolutely thrilled to have Julieta join the On family."

"At 16, she’s already shown the world what she can do on the court, and we cannot wait to support her in what’s to come in her very bright future," he added.
