"I've already done my job!": Carlos Alcaraz ready for Euro 2024 final after retaining Wimbledon title

From rapper Lil Wayne hyping up cult fave Jelena Ostapenko to singer P!nk meeting with both of the Ladies finalists, it’s been all about unexpected crossovers at Wimbledon this year.

Add NBA player Jimmy Butler and Formula 1 star Lando Norris to the list: The Miami Heat small forward—a famous fan of tennis—and the McLaren driver lit up social media with the news that they held their own mini-watch party to witness Carlos Alcaraz’s second Wimbledon triumph.

“Two in a row, Carlitos! Vamos!” Butler said in an Instagram Story video, which showed him fist-pumping in celebration as Norris held up a victory sign.

“Hell yeah! We talked about this! We talked about this...”

Butler also shared a few artsy snaps showing the (very relatable) way the two millionaires and sports megastars watched Alcaraz’s straight sets win over Novak Djokovic: on the small screen of an iPhone, with the pair huddled together.

The basketball player is a courtside fixture at tennis matches, and he’s an especially big Alcaraz fan having watched him compete in tournaments like the Miami Open, the US Open and even Buenos Aires over the years.

On Sunday, Butler and Norris were watching the scenes live from Berlin, where they were in town to watch Spain face England in the 2024 European Championship final.

But they weren’t the only ones tuning in to the year’s most expensive sporting event—a rematch of last year’s Wimbledon final with the same result.

Rafael Nadal was also watching live from Bastad, Sweden, where he’s gearing up to compete for the first time in nearly 20 years in preparation for the Olympics. The 22-time Grand Slam champion was effusive with his praise for the 21-year-old, writing in Spanish:

“Congratulations Carlos!!!!” Nadal posted, with four trophy emojis and a Spain flag in the caption. “What a great moment, another great one. Big hug!!!!”

Alcaraz himself said he's "still dreaming" hours after securing his fourth Grand Slam title—becoming the sixth man in the Open Era to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year:

"Well deserved, my friend," wrote his opponent Djokovic, in a post where he also reflected on the "childhood dream" of his journey to Centre Court.

Djokovic vowed to "rise and learn and get stronger" after admitting that Alcaraz had been "better than me in every aspect of the game" on Sunday.
