Fittingly, Rafael Nadal led the charge as he sent a message to his fellow Spaniard and heir apparent in tennis:

“What an incredible Roland Garros final!” wrote the 14-time champion, as he shared congratulations and enhorabuena to the 21-year-old from Murcia.

Spain's royal family wasn't far behind, with King Felipe VI's official X account sharing an effusive message of congratulations for their native son:

"Philippe-Chatrier surrenders to you again, Carlos! What a historic finally you have given us! Congratulations! With this Coupe des Mosquetaires, you've won your fifth Grand Slam title—a recognition of the great journey you've already made, and one that promises an even brighter future."

The men's singles final match had it all: Alcaraz saved three match points, three of the five sets were decided in tiebreakers, and the players hit 123 combined winners—with 70 coming off of Alcaraz’s racquet alone.

All of it left folks wondering: Did we just witness the greatest men's tennis match of all time?

And it wasn’t just tennis fans who were glued to their screens—or, in the case of Spike Lee, George Russell, Natalie Portman and more, on the edge of their luxury seats on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Ahead of their UEFA Nations League Final match against Portugal, the entire Spanish National Team was spotted watching the action on one player’s iPhone.

Actor Matthew McConaughey and sports figures including Real Madrid and Germany star Toni Kroos and Spanish basketball legend Pau Gasol joined in, too.
