If anyone has good reason to celebrate, it’s Emma Raducanu. The 19-year-old has been flying high since she hit the tennis scene last year, capping off a perfect debut season with a historic Grand Slam win at the US Open.

So on a night out with friends or family, which drink does the British player reach for to celebrate?

Raducanu was asked the question during media day at the Abierto Akron Zapopan, which is held near Guadalajara, Mexico. The country is well-known for its tequila—and in fact, the famous town of Tequila is located in Jalisco, the same state as Guadalajara. But when it comes to sampling Mexico’s famous margaritas, it’s hit or miss for Raducanu.

“I don’t really drink, I’m kind of boring! But yesterday Gus [tournament director Gustavo Santoscoy] gave me a virgin margarita. I didn’t know if it was real or not, because I’ve never had tequila before. So I couldn’t really taste the difference,” she explained with a laugh.

(For all you Americans reading this, there is no need to fret: the drinking age in both Mexico and the United Kingdom is 18.)

Raducanu is the top seed in Guadalajara for the third edition of the WTA 250 event. She will take on Daria Saville in the first round, and could get a blockbuster rematch with Sloane Stephens, the No. 6 seed, in the quarterfinals. The pair faced off in the first round of the Australian Open, with Raducanu taking down her fellow US Open champion 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 in her tournament debut.

Madison Keys is the No. 2 seed in Guadalajara, and she’ll start against Harmony Tan in the first round. Mexico’s own Renata Zarazua is also in action after receiving a wild card.
