Iga Swiatek obliterates Anastasia Potapova, 6-0, 6-0, in just 40 minutes at Roland Garros

The two-time defending champion, three-time titlist on the terre battue and four-time major winner won her fourth-round match over an overwhelmed and under-prepared Anastasia Potapova, 6-0, 6-0, in exactly 40 minutes.

Swiatek somehow managed to top her 21-minute first set in terms of efficiency, winning the second in just 19.

"I was just really focused and really in the zone," she told Mats Wilander in the on-court interview. "Yeah, it went pretty quickly."

Swiatek broke Potapova, the 41st-ranked player in the world, six times in eight chances, and hit 13 winners against just two unforced errors. Potapova had five winners and 19 unforced errors—along with 16 "forced errors," owing to Swiatek's pressure.

In an absurd statistic considering the level of competition and stage of the tournament, five of Swiatek's 12 games won were at love. She lost just 10 totalpoints.

The vitesse of the match was perhaps welcome to tournament organizers, following Novak Djokovic's post-3 a.m. win over Lorenzo Musetti—the latest match in Roland Garros history. And for once, Court Philippe Chatrier didn't require its roof to be used.

Swiatek will face either Olga Danilovic or Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals, in what will—presumably—be a more competitive contest.
