Comeback king Alexander Bublik rallies again, beats Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach Montpellier final

Welcome to the Top 40 Mr. Herbert! The Frenchman continues to dazzle his hometown fans with stunning displays of athleticism and shot-making. Herbert routinely dispatched the talented Denis Shapovalov in straight sets and will now face the bruising Czech Tomas Berdych for a spot in the final.

Berdych is still both the UTR and Vegas oddsmakers favorite to take the title in Montpellier, but Herbert will have other plans. There is an aura about the Frenchman this week. Herbert is playing with more confidence than ever before. He will need to serve well to stand a chance against the powerful ground game of Berdych. If he can continue to earn free points on his serve, he absolutely stands a chance against the 2012 champion. While Berdych is back on the right track, he had to save two match points to defeat Filip Krajinovic. This match will be decided by just a few points here and there. Without a doubt, this feels like Herbert’s best chance to capture the ever-elusive first ATP title.

Bjorn Fratangelo (USA) - UTR 15.05, ATP 130

Hometown hero Mitchell Krueger spent his whole life training on the courts at T Bar M Racquet Club in Dallas. He chose to forgo several full scholarship offers from various Big 12 conference programs to pursue his dream of professional tennis. He will rise to ATP No. 181, and another victory on his home court is vital for his acceptance into Grand Slam qualifying rounds.

Unfortunately for Krueger, he is facing Bjorn Fratangelo, former Roland Garros junior champion and world No. 130. Fratangelo owns a career record of 8-1 over the Dallas native. All in all, including juniors, they have faced off at least 20 times. But don’t count the Texan out: there is something special about playing on your home court. Krueger will have full support of the crowd, and having made it to the weekend, will have one of the larger cheering squads you will ever see at a Challenger event. All metrics point towards another victory for Fratangelo, but do not underestimate the magic of playing with adrenaline—on the courts you grew up playing on.
