Stefanos Tsitsipas capped a dream week in Los Cabos on Saturday night by defeating Alex de Minaur, 6-3, 6-4, for the ATP 250 title.

It was the Greek’s first ATP title of the year and the milestone 10th of his career—it was also his first ATP title on outdoor hard courts.

“I feel like both of us wanted to go out on the court today and play a great final,” he said. “I feel like it was a great match—Alex showed great tennis, and I tried to keep up as much as I can with the level in there. So I’m really happy we were able to deliver a great final today.

“I think that’s what stands out the most, a great quality of match, and a great crowd as well, as always—present and engaged.”

Tsitsipas had won four career ATP titles on hard courts before Los Cabos, but they all came on indoor hard courts. He now has five total ATP titles on hard courts, four on clay and one on grass.

Tsitsipas will now move from No. 5 back up to No. 4 on the ATP rankings. He's been as high as No. 3.

Tsitsipas seemed headed for a less complicated win as he originally led by a set and a break, 6-3, 3-1, but De Minaur won the next three games to lead 4-3 in the second set. But the Greek retaliated with three games in a row of his own to close it out, clinching the victory after a long rally when a De Minaur forehand floated long.

Tsitsipas is now 10-0 in tour-level matches against De Minaur, by far his best head-to-head at tour-level—De Minaur is actually the first player he’s beaten 10 times at this level, let alone 10 out of 10.

The Australian did win two of their three meetings below tour-level.

Both players are projected to move up on the ATP rankings on Monday after their runs in Mexico, Tsitsipas inching up from No. 5 to No. 4 and De Minaur from No. 19 to No. 18.

They’ll both head to Toronto now for the National Bank Open, a Masters 1000 event. Tsitsipas is the No. 4 seed there with a first-round bye, while De Minaur—who just missed out on the seeds by one spot—will face No. 11 seed Cam Norrie in the first round.
