Tsitsipas vs. Musetti: Monte-Carlo Preview & Pick
Friday’s four quarters will conclude with what should be a stylish battle of single-handers. Will it be competitive, too? Musetti will have work to do in that department. He’s 0-5 vs. Tsitsipas, and 0-4 on clay.
There are a couple of caveats we can thrown in to help the Italian out. One, they haven’t played since 2023. Two, three of their four matches on dirt have gone the distance, including a five-setter at Roland Garros in 2022 that Musetti led two sets to love. Musetti has also been the more impressive player in Monte Carlo this week, coming back from a set down in each of his first two matches, and straight-setting countryman Matter Berrettini on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Musetti looks comfortable, he may be a champion at this event some day, and he’s overdue to beat the Greek. But Monte Carlo is a second home to Tsitsipas, who has won it three of the last four years. Put that together with his head-to-head against Musetti, and he’s the pick. Winner: Tsitsipas
