Tommy Paul won his third career ATP singles title on Sunday at the Queen's Club by beating Italy's Lorenzo Musetti, 6-1, 7-6(8).

The American's 88-minute victory put him amongst a roll of honor at the tournament that includes John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and Carlos Alcaraz—a group he said he was honored to join. He is the first American man to win the title since 2010, when Sam Querrey toppled Mardy Fish in a match between compatriots.

"It was my goal to put my name next to them," Paul said afterwards.

As a bonus, Paul will unseat Taylor Fritz as the top-ranked American man in the ATP rankings on Monday. Paul and Fritz will swap spots in next week's list, with Paul matching his career-high of No. 12. He'll sit 60 points ahead of Fritz at No. 13.

Paul is now 3-3 in his career in ATP finals, and also won in Dallas in February.

In his first career metting with Musetti, Paul stayed ahead for much of the match, and broke serve twice in the first set en route to wrapping it up in a half hour. But after failing serve out the title at 5-4 in the second set, he rallied from 4-1 down in the tiebreak and also saved a set point down 7-6.

Musetti was bidding to improve to 3-0 in his career in ATP finals, and will return to the Top 25 in the ATP rankings on Monday.
