Bianca Andreescu, Andrey Rublev, Aryna Sabalenka and more celebrate Yulia Putintseva's birthday in Melbourne

Two years ago, Yulia Putintseva was famously fending off a mouse while in COVID-19 quarantine in her Melbourne hotel room ahead of the Australian Open. On the eve of the 2023 tournament, the Kazakh had herself a proper night out with a star-studded birthday bash.

Putintseva, who turned 28 on Jan. 7, hit the town with a host of ATP and WTA players including Bianca Andreescu, Aryna Sabalenka, Andrey Rublev and Daria Saville.

While she's not competing at the Australian Open as she continues her recovery from a second ACL injury, Saville nonetheless played an important role for the evening as the group's unofficial social media manager.

On her Instagram, the Aussie shared several group pictures of a well-dressed squad that also included Anna Danilina, Anna Kalinskaya, Anastasia Potapova and Yana Sizikova.

"Netflix really missed out on this sledge sesh #breakpointnetflix," Saville teased, referencing the premiere of the tennis documentary. "Happy bday @yulia_putintseva."

With her Australian Open campaign set to begin Tuesday, Putintseva enjoyed her evening in a flowing black dress with billowy sleeves.

The unseeded Putintseva will face Sorana Cirstea in her first match at Melbourne Park in her second tournament as a 28-year-old, after she reached the quarterfinals at the Hobart International last week. The winner will face either No. 30 seed and former world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova or Wang Xiyu, in a section of the bottom half that also features No. 8 seed Daria Kasatkina and No. 9 seed Veronika Kudermetova.

However, some of the soiree's attendees will be all business come Monday. On Day 1, Kalinskaya will face defending finalist and No. 13 seed Danielle Collins in Kia Arena in her opening match, while Andreescu will face No. 25 seed Marie Bouzkova.
